Engagements and weddings are all about decisions, decisions, and more decisions. There are just so many decisions to make, and the process can easily overwhelm you if you are not careful. Everything starts with a sounds engagement or wedding plan. Having a good plan is half the battle won, but there is still lots to be done, and lots of decisions to make. Just take a look at the shopping list. You will see that there are still challenges ahead to be overcome.
The Engagement or Wedding Ring.
This is the most important item in the entire shopping list. As the groom, you can surprise the bride by buying the rings secretly and then presenting them to the bride to be at a later date. Or, if you are unsure of the type of ring to buy, you may want to bring your other half along to shop for the perfect ring.
The key here is to always ask if you are unsure. Don't assume anything. Unless you are totally confident that your bride is going to love the ring, don't buy it! Try to sound her out by asking what type of precious stones she likes, or what type of design she likes and so on. That will help you make better buying decisions.
Engagement and wedding clothing.
Suits, dresses, gowns, and more! There are just so many choices! It is always a good idea to start to source for the right clothing as early as possible. Don't just rely on fashion magazines to choose the right dress or suit. Go and make actual visits to the stores. You will find that sometimes, the designs you want may not be available. Or you may discover that some designs may look fabulous in the magazines, but they don't look as good when you view them in the stores.
You need to start as early as possible because sometimes, dresses and suits require several alterations. Of course, you want to ensure that the final alteration date is as close to your big day as possible. So that leaves little chance for the body to put on additional weight (and vice versa) when the day arrives.
Sourcing for caterers.
Food is another important element of the engagement or wedding event. There will be many caterers available in your area. You can easily find the contacts from a local directory or from an online website. Menus are usually displayed prominently on the caterers' websites, followed by contact numbers and fax numbers. You can always contact a few caterers to ask about pricing before coming to a decision.
Another way to get reliable caterers who can provide great tasting food for the event is to ask for referrals from friends. Usually, the caterers that are referred are tried and tested, so you can expect the food to be of certain standards.
Remember to get the help of family and friends when sourcing for engagement and wedding items. They will help make the planning process a whole lot easier, and a whole lot more fun!
